Barlows flies high with BAA at T5
June 2007
Barlows, a leading project management company specialising in interior solutions, has been officially recognised by BAA for its outstanding work on the impressive Terminal 5 project at Heathrow.
As a first tier supplier, Barlows is providing all desk systems in the terminal. The company has been involved in every stage of production, including design, manufacture and installation.
BAA gave the award to Barlows as part of the organisation’s quarterly High 5 Award Scheme, following a recommendation from British Airways, one of Terminal 5’s major stakeholders. The scheme recognises excellence of service amongst the terminal’s suppliers and Barlows plans to donate the prize voucher to Sheffield Children’s Hospital … a charity that the company has long supported.
Barlows has been working with BAA for the past three years and the project is scheduled to complete in September 2007. The terminal itself, in which BAA has invested £4.3 billion, is due to open in March 2008.
Lee Chatburn, project leader at Barlows, says: ‘The culture that runs throughout Barlows is very much one of providing exceptional levels of service and I see this very much as an award for the whole team. The fact that we have been recognised by BAA is highly reassuring and is testament to everyone’s hard work and dedication.’
Richard Walker, development manager at BAA, says: ‘The element of the project that Lee and his team are working on has been very challenging. Barlows has taken the bull by the horns and solved any problems that existed previously. They have turned it around successfully, which is why we felt it important to recognise the company’s work ethic and achievements.’
