Barlows recognised as Investors In People
July 2007
Barlows, the Sheffield based project management company specialising in high street interiors, has achieved Investors In People recognition.
The Investors In People standard is acknowledged as a business improvement tool, helping organisations of every size, type and location to gain more from their people in support of business goals. The widely recognised and respected standard provides a framework that helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of their staff.
To gain the IIP award, Barlows had to undergo an audit, which involved rigorous assessment via employee and sub-contractor interviews, in order to assess the company’s level of training, communication, planning and health and safety.
In the last two years Barlows has made a significant business shift from a traditional shop fitter to a fully integrated project management company. As a result the company and its employees have seen major changes in how it operates. Achieving IIP at this stage has validated the success of the implementation of these new systems and processes.
Lee Walker, Managing Director at Barlows, says: ‘Everyone at Barlows is delighted to have achieved the high standard set by Investors In People. We have worked hard to create an environment where employees are valued and encouraged to develop their skills. We have always been keen to ensure that people enjoy coming into work each day.’
