Barlows wins Contractor of the Year Award

June 2007

Barlows, a leading project management contractor, specialising in high street interior solutions, has won the coveted Contractor of the Year Award at the Global Retail & Leisure International Awards 2007.

The ceremony, which celebrated the great and the good of the retail and leisure industries, highlighting the most innovative and imaginative retail and leisure concepts across the world, took place at the Natural History Museum in London in July.

Barlows beat off stiff competition from Wates and Andbridge International. The judging panel was impressed by Barlows’ proven track record and innovative approach, its diverse customer portfolio, and excellent health and safety standards. The panel also acknowledged the company's integrated approach and close client liaison.

Barlows has seen year on year growth, with a projected turnover of £28m in 2007. The company has developed its strong market position due to the competitive advantage gained from its strategy and the implementation of Japanese inspired ‘lean’ principles. This has transformed the way the business operates, resulting in significant, tangible benefits for customers both in terms of time and money.

Lee Walker, Managing Director, comments: ‘We are delighted to have been recognised by such a highly regarded industry voice as RLI. Winning this award is testament to our unique approach and our vision to change the face of the construction industry. Barlows’ focus has been about delivering excellence and saving our customers money by getting their doors open more quickly. This award is a great vote of confidence and a recognition of our achievements to date.’
