Barlows Appoints Master Scheduler To Further Improve Efficiency

April 2007

Leading retail project management company, Barlows, has created a Master Scheduler position and appointed Richard Cullen into the role. Richard’s overall objective will be to ensure that company resources are at the optimum level to support current and future projects, with a key emphasis on capacity planning and risk management for the company and clients. Richard’s role is set to enable Barlows to operate an even more cost effective and efficient service for its clients.

Richard, 35, who lives in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, will manage resource requirements, to ensure costly over or under-resourcing is not incurred. He will assess the impacts of new clients and projects, adapting programmes and resourcing demands where necessary.

He is instrumental in implementing the latest ASTA project management and resource planning system, which will allow a quicker and greater understanding of the Company’s position at any one time. This will enable informed decisions to be made efficiently, ensuring that clients’ needs are achieved without disruption or delay.

Lee Walker, managing director at Barlows, said: “It’s not usual for a project management company of our size to have a master scheduler role. However, having looked at the business and where we want to take it Richard’s role is paramount to ensure we operate even more efficiently, which will enable us to exceed our already high customer service levels.”

Richard studied Engineering with Business Studies at Sheffield Hallam University. He has six years planning experience within the manufacturing industry. In his previous position he led a capital efficiency project based on lean principles, which contributed considerably to the company winning the ‘Most Improved Factory in Britain’ at the Best Factory awards, run by Cranfield University.
