Total selects Barlows project management offer for a fourth consecutive year
August 2007
Leading project management contractors, Barlows, is celebrating its fourth consecutive year working in partnership with oil giant Total UK. Barlows has been responsible for remodelling over 130 forecourts with the new Bonjour concept during that time.
The relationship began when the petrol filling station retailer wanted to launch a new concept to its forecourts. Barlows turnkey service meant that its team could translate the original European design to the British forecourt market, whilst also utilising its ‘lean’ approach to re-fit programmes which would ensure the forecourts suffered minimal trading disruption.
One of the major successes of the partnership was the implementation of smarter, solution driven programme co-ordination on site, this meant Barlows could reduce the time on site from 18 days to an incredible 4.5 days.
As the roll-out of the concept comes to an end Barlows is reflecting on the successes of the partnered approach with Total UK.
Lee Walker, MD at Barlows, reflects: “Barlows is a customer focused business with its primary objective to understand the needs of the retailers. Our partnered approach with Total UK allowed us to dramatically change the way the Bonjour concept was rolled–out, we examined the materials used, the methods of delivery and as a result were able to knock a significant number of days off the standard programme. The results that this has provided for Total UK are a reduction in lost trading days, retention of customer loyalty and ultimately increased turnover. We will continue to offer Total UK a customer focused approach on any subsequent roll-outs and are delighted that the Bonjour concept has been such a success.”
